In an almost unbelievable happening, the jury in the Curtis Rower case was hung. Edwin Marger, the attorney for Rower who was being tried for the murder of Sarah Tokars, told the press that it was obvious that the jury foreman believed that the shooting was an accident.
Rower, tried for murdering the wife of a prominent attorney and ex-judge had offered the District Attorney of Cobb County, Tom Sharron, a guilty plea if Sharron would agree to Rower's being sentenced to live without parole. Sharron refused, and sought the death penalty.
The case which had received a great deal of publicity was moved from Cobb to Columbia county on the motion of Marger.
The district attorney will have to determine whether the case will be tried again or the plea to life without parole will be accepted.
